Angel has a passion for serving underprivileged communities and has over 6 years of extensive experience providing trauma-informed treatment for children (ages 0-21) and their families involved in the foster care system. He has also worked with transitional-aged youth (ages 13- 25) who are homeless or unstably housed in North San Diego County.
Angel specializes in family therapy and assists children and families suffering from relational issues, anxiety, depression, ADHD, post-traumatic stress, and aggressive behaviors. He utilizes evidence-based treatments such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Motivational Interviewing. He also employs components of several treatment modalities including Positive Discipline, Positive Parent Training, Solution-Focused, Play Therapy, and Attachment-based therapies.
Angel takes a strength-based, client-centered approach to treatment planning and recognizes the importance of individual and family culture when working with youth and their families. His approach when working with diverse populations empowers clients as experts of themselves and builds on their existing strengths to better help them reach their goals.
